The website that I have been creating over the past couple of weeks is all about the Holle Family! As part of this website, I have planned on covering a wide range of information about my immediate family (the 19 main individuals). I have planned on including the history of our family, descriptions of all of our past family vacations, a “Get to Know Us” section on each of the brothers and their families, I will create a couple of posts on the more recent happenings within our family (as these things will come and go as time goes on), and I will include a few pages on the Holle family business and softball team inspired by it! My goal, over the course of creating this website, has been to allow readers to know a little bit more about my large family, as well as realize how important their family is in their own lives! In the end, I felt that this topic would be very fitting because it regards individuals that I am very close with. All 19 of the Holle’s live within miles of each other, allowing us to have very close relationships with one another! In all, I wanted to share a little bit about the people that mean the most to me! Lastly, I have been creating this website for my Multimedia Applications class at Lincoln Lutheran! In this class, we have the opportunity to explore technology by creating websites and videos!
To start, creating this website has gone extremely well! I have learned so many different techniques and widgets available to make my website more professional and intriguing! As of right now, I am fairly on-track in comparison to when it is officially due! Secondly, inserting the actually information and text itself is going a lot quicker than I thought it would. I feel that finding information is quick and easy because not only did I come into this website very prepared (regarding what I wanted to cover), but this is a topic that I am very passionate about! Thirdly, inserting the images has taken me a lot longer than I thought it would. Choosing the most fitting images and editing them takes a considerable amount of time. Then, when it comes to choosing where I want the image to be in each page/post, a lot of time and experimentation is needed as well. Fourthly, in regards to my progress on this site, I have been able to accomplish many pages and posts! As part of this website, as stated earlier, I have planned on including a “Recent Happenings” category. Under this category, I have finished all three posts and images within them! I have also completely finished (pictures and images included) my homepage, the footer on my site, my about page, the site map, the contact page, the “Family Tree” page, the “Birthday List”, “Kevin’s Family” page, the “Minnesota 2021?” page, the “Cancún, México” page, the “Gatherings” page, and the “What is Aerating?” page. I have at least started the text or inserted all of the images on the remaining pages, except for the five pages in which I have not started yet.
Above you will see a screenshot of what my homepage looks like! The theme, “Twenty Seventeen,” is very fitting for my topic because it allows for a single, large image in the header. This theme is also very simplistic and clean, which is something that I was also definitely looking for! Lastly, when choosing a theme, I also knew that I wanted something with two footers. This would allow space for quotes, a second menu, and additional images to be inserted! The theme, “Twenty Seventeen,” offered the two footers that I desired! In the end, I hope you enjoy my website!
